(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 03, 2013 ) JACKSON, Wyo. – For the last four decades, Wilderness Ventures has provided young travelers life-altering experiences in some of the world's most magnificent outdoor settings. Their first service project in 1973 consisted of replanting shrubs and grass on the shores of Image Lake in Washington’s Glacier Peak Wilderness. Since then, Wilderness Ventures’ groups have taken on more comprehensive projects
In 2013, teens can earn 40 hours of community service while lending a hand in cooperating with local community leaders in rural Tanzania. Participants will see lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo in their natural habitat. TheyÂ’ll explore Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area on an authentic African safari before culminating the adventure with five unforgettable days of SCUBA dive training off the tropical island of Zanzibar.
In Thailand, Wilderness VenturesÂ’ participants will discover a land of mystical elephants, ancient Buddhist temples, tropical islands, secluded jungles and tempting spices. The Thai service project takes place working in rural villages and atop friendly elephants. Adventurers can SCUBA dive tropical blue waters, rock climb in the jungle-covered foothills of the Himalayas and to cook tasty Thai meals on a working organic farm. Participants will build cultural connections and lifelong memories in Southeast Asia's most enchanting and welcoming country.
Other teen adventure camps with a service learning emphasis offered by Wilderness Ventures in 2013 include everything from improving public lands in Alaska to protecting endangered sea turtles in Hawaii or building a local school in Peru.
