(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 02, 2009 ) - CEDAR CITY, Utah–With more than 22 annual festivals in Cedar City, Utah, and new ones cropping up seemingly every day, it’s understandable that the town is dubbed “Festival City USA.” Plan now to visit southern Utah and experience the festivals that are superstars in the event industry. Spring: Himmelsk-The Festival Royale April 1; Thunderbird Film Festival in mid-April (TBA); and The Utah Summer Summer Games June 3-21.
Summer: Groovefest-American Music Festival June 24-28; American Family Fest July 2-4; Cedar Breaks National Monument Wildflower Festival the month of July; July Jamboree begins July 11and festivities run for a week; Utah Mid-Summer Renaissance Faire July 8-11; Tony Award winning Utah Shakespearean Festival June 29 to August 29 and Sept. 18 to Oct. 17; Neil Simon Festival July 13-August 15; and the Cedar City Arts Festival August 28-29.
Fall and Winter: Cedar City Livestock and Heritage Festival (Oct. 23-24); The Annual Pumpkin Festival (Oct. 24); Parowan Christmas in the Country (Nov. 27-28); American ChildrenÂ’s Christmas Festival (Dec. 4-7 and Dec. 11-14); and Family New YearÂ’s Party (Dec. 31).
“Cedar City truly is ‘Festival City USA’ and we are thrilled to continue this tradition even during the economy’s rocky rollercoaster ride,” says Maria Twitchell, executive director of the Cedar City-Brian Head Tourism Bureau. “Festival organizers continue to work hard throughout the year to not only add to the quality of life in this region, but enrich travelers’ vacations and help attract new festival followers too. Everyone loves a festival and the fact that we are centrally located to so many national parks make it a superb setting and easy vacation planning.”
National parks close to Cedar City are Cedar Breaks National Monument, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Grand Staircase, Kolob Canyons, and Zion National Park, as well as recreation areas like Lake Powell, Dixie National Forest, and Red Canyon.
