(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 23, 2010 ) SWEETWATER COUNTY, Wyo.- This fall as the aspens and cedars turn from green to gold, artistic travelers should head to Sweetwater County to find new inspirations. In addition to the turning leaves, high desert landscapes provide excellent subjects for painters and photographers. BoarÂ’s Tusk, the core of an ancient volcano, and Castle Rock are formidable and beautiful desert spires. Bring a tent and spend an evening star-gazing and camping near Flaming Gorge. While driving along the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Loop, watch for desert elk, cottontail rabbits, antelope, and of course and of course wild horses. Stop at Pilot Butte and take the man-made staircase to its peak for a stunning desert panorama. Further ideas await the adventurous artist. Put pencils and paper in your pack and explore the areaÂ’s many mountain biking trails, including the newly added Cherokee Trail/ Currant Creek Ranch Loop.
Check out the results of past artists. The Rock Springs Community Fine Arts Center displays the works of recognized painters including Norman Rockwell and Grandma Moses while the White Mountain Petroglyphs incite questions of unknown artists. This fall head to Sweetwater County and let the high desert inspire creativity.
