(I-TravelNewswire.Com, September 12, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA - One of the officials described to be Andrew Alessi of Baton Rouge, shoved passed the crewmembers and locked himself in the airplane’s cockpit this Wednesday. Then after a while, he surrendered and was taken for further investigation.
The spokesman, Jim Caldwell of Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, said that at around noon, Andrew Alessi of Baton Rough was successful in getting his way out of two American Eagle agents and then quickly ran down the way where the jet of the plane was. He also said that before this act the plane was set ready and was scheduled for boarding.
Caldwell also explained that he styed in the cockpit of the airplane for several hours until the state police and FBI finally negotiated with him to give himself up. Andrew then ultimately came out of the cockpit voluntarily.
The spokesman further added that shortly before the boarding was about to start, Alessi bought the ticket from the airport and peacefully cleared all the security along with his entire luggage, which even didn’t have any weapons or any such material that could have become a reason to harm anyone. The flight, which was about to head towards Dallas/Fort Worth, was also cancelled however the passengers were being accommodated. After this, rest of the flights took off in time and were not delayed.
Kyle Hanrahan, spokesman of the FBI, said that Andrew Alessi would be charged for the delay in the flight that was caused by him.
A Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman said, according to Yahoo news, that, “Alessi is in federal custody and will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison when they are done with their investigation.”
Matt Miller, American Airlines spokesman stated that the airline will be going through proper and much tighter security procedures from now onwards in order to avoid such incidents in the future.
