Ambassadors on the Ready at OIA reports Affordable Car Hire

(I-TravelNewswire.Com, January 25, 2013 ) Broxbourne, U.K -- Orlando International Airport's Ambassador Program is looking for ways to help those poor lost souls of the incoming flights.

All too often there are international flights that have more than one lost individual or group, who are unable to find what they need and are a bit frazzled and lost. These individuals rarely have enough of the command of the English language to get the specific help they need, and the ambassador program is looking to hopefully curb such problems for the most consistent of international states travelers.

The ambassador program is comprised of 16 helpful individuals who speak a 11 different languages (not including English). Each and every day they fan out across the terminals and stand at the ready at information booths and kiosks. They wear their trademark gold vests, and they are prepared to answer any questions they can readily understand.

"What I like best is to help people," said Ana Rocco, a 52-year-old ambassador who speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Rocco and her fellow ambassador, along with others who work in customer service, answer over 1 million questions every year. Many are answered in English, according tot he OIA statistics.

Quite often the queries are simple ones:

Where is baggage claim? Where do I go to get a taxi? Where is the bathrooms? Is my plane on time or is it delayed? And where is the bus that will take me to Disney World? Are some of the most common questions.

According to the ambassadors, occasionally there will be interesting questions as well.

"They say, 'Where is my cat? Where is my dog?' " said ambassador Irene Abelenda , 50, who speaks Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Debra Bouier is the manager of the ambassador program, and does what she can to get the right ambassadors in position when international flights are being scheduled to land. That way, those who are are already tired, frazzled, and perhaps a bit frustrated, will have a quick and easy time finding any answers to their questions.

"We want to make this as comfortable as possible, safe and secure," Bouier said.
