Panama City Beach Makes Many Top Beach Lists reports Mangle Cache

(I-TravelNewswire.Com, February 02, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- A popular student travel agency found that Panama City Beach joins Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic, as the most popular destinations for college students during Spring Break.

Panama City ranked fourth amongst the most sought-after Spring Break spots for customers of STA Travel. The company specializes in travel for college-aged students and young adults interested in hot-spot destinations across the globe.

Cancun made it to the top spot on the list, while Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico made the list as well. Jamaica ranked fifth overall.

For the executive director of the Bay County Tourist Development Council, the ranking is nothing short of what is expected from the city.

“Panama City Beach is one of the quintessential Spring Break destinations,” Rowe said. “We expect to be listed as one of the top.”

Rowe referred to the destination’s slogan “Real. Fun. Beach.” to explain the area’s Spring Break phenomenon.

“Panama City Beach is a real fun beach, and the kids that come here have a great time,” Rowe said. “Again, our major focus is promoting visitation on an annual basis, not just for Spring Break.”

The Panama City Beach is also ranked on Yahoo's Traveler's list of 10 sunny, affordable, escapes for the winter, while Shell Island made the USA Today Traveler's list of 20 Amazing American Beaches.

In 2012, Panama City Beach ranked fifth on the travel websites 10 Best's list for the top 10 Best U.S. Beaches, and Canadian Living ranked Panama City Beach number 12 on the publication's list of the 25 best in the world.

Susan Estler, who is vice president of marketing for the TDC, stated that Panama City Beach is gaining momentum in both travel and mainstream media.

“I think it’s wonderful for us to get that type of coverage,” Estler said. “I think it’s a consistent message that we are a beautiful beach and a great destination.”
