(I-TravelNewswire.Com, July 19, 2013 ) Savannah, GA – The United States Coast Guard and Chatham County officials have issued a warning to mariners and Savannah area residence alike regarding higher water levels and fast moving water on the Savannah River.
These conditions are expected to peak on Monday with a high tide of 10 feet, which would cause flooding in certain areas. This flooding will be caused by the increase of rain recently and the release of flood storage reservoirs in Richard Russell, Hartwell, and J. Strom Thurmond lakes.
Areas of flooding that are expected to cover the road include the west end of River Street and a portion of U.S. Route 80 heading towards Tybee Island. The Georgia Department of Transportation will be posting warnings along U.S. Route 80 to inform drivers of this hazardous flooding.
Our Savannah auto accident attorneys would like to advise all drivers not to attempt driving through areas with large water puddles or flooding as it may cause extreme danger to the driver or potentially ruin their vehicle. Our team has created a list of bad weather driving tips to assist those individuals who would like further information on this subject. Also, feel free to contact our law firm at 1-800-JUSTICE or visit our website at www.thejusticelawer.com with any further questions.
