Study Suggests Wine May Have Effect on Cardio Health for Elderly Men

The new study states that the antioxidant block the benefits of cardiovascular cardiovascular health in order men.

Red when has a history of being associated with more positive health effects when it comes to the anti-aging capability of an individual. There are a list of other supposed positives that are associated with the alcoholic drink. It has even been suggested red wine ought be considered something for overall health consideration. Despite the many positive studies done of the wine and the effect of the antioxidant resveratrol, a new study is now stating the drink may have a set back.

The study shows reason to believe that a diet rich in antioxidants may undo some benefits of exercising. The study was conducted on humans and is covering some rather shocking concerns, especially when it comes to the effects on older men.

The study looked at 27 physically inactive men aged 65 or older. The men were observed for two months, and participants were asked to partake in high-intensity activities. Half of the men received 250 milligrams of resveratrol, while the second group received a placebo.

The research showed that the group taking the dosage of resveratrol did not see the same benefits from the training as those in the placebo group. The latter group was able to reduce harmful fat better than the prior group. Researchers believe that could mean factors are being blocked for those who intake a steady dosage of resveratrol.

The study does not cover enough scope to know if there is more at play in the possible positive

effects of wine drinking instead of straight antioxidant injections.

"We were surprised to find that resveratrol supplementation in aged men blunts the positive effects of exercise training on cardiovascular health parameters, in part because our results contradict findings in animal studies. It should be noted that the quantities of resveratrol given in our research study are much higher than what could be obtained by intake of natural foods," professor Ylva Hellsten, the leader of the project, concludes.
