Google Business Page Gives Users More Control of Photos

(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, February 27, 2015 ) Lake Worth, Florida – Effective yesterday; Google is now allowing business owners and webmasters the ability to take increased control of images displayed on their map and search results. The update was announced as an effort to give business owners more control of their listings on Google My Business, and is completely free of charge as a courtesy of Google.

According to a blog post by Google “Starting today, you can tell us which image you’d like to appear when customers search for your business on Google. Just log in to Google My Business on the web or in the Android or iOS apps, and visit the Photos section. While you’re there, you can also give your business a fresh look online by updating your profile, logo and cover photos.”

The new interface guides webmasters and business owners through six different categories of photos, which include:

• Team Photos

• Additional Photos

• Identity Photos

• Exterior Photos

• Photos at Work

• Interior Photos

To better assist users, there are explanations for each of these photos which can be found on the dashboard. These explanations will help explain what interior photos, exterior photos, and so on can be used for. Of course, the logo, cover photo, and profile photo can be found in the identity section.

In addition to this significant release, Google also released its business locations will include a primary category within each organization.

According to a post by Jade Wang, Google community manager, “Please note that all locations of a business must share one category that best represents the business.” And “If you have multiple types of locations (e.g. sub-brands, departments, etc.), this rule only applies within each of these sub-groups.
