(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 26, 2011 ) Mt. Vernon, VA -- Greg Landrum will be judging this years Shrode Art Center competition for amateur photographers. A photographer based out of St. Louis and professor at Webster University. Shrode director Carrie Gibbs said that Landrum's familiarity with many types of photography make him the perfect choice for judging the exhibition.
The competition is open to all non-professional photographers. Amateur photographers, semi-professional photographers and even the person who just does it as a hobby are welcome to participate in the competition. Gibbs said "We "We encourage those with a love of taking photos who might not have considered a competition before to enter."
Entries submitted will be judged for an awards reception Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m., when cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, first place, second place and third place. Honorable mentions will be named as well. The pieces that are accepted for the exhibition will be shown at Shrode from Oct 29 to Dec 31.
Gibbs went on to say that "Entering an art competition is a great learning experience for students because it's a huge part of being an artist," she said. "This competition is a really good way to learn the process and develop personal confidence about displaying your work."
