Playstation Vita, the Newest Addition to SonyÂ’s Playstation Family

(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 16, 2011 ) New York, NY -- Playstation Vita, also called PS Vita or PSV, is the newest handheld game console developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. ItÂ’s new to the line of Playstation Portables in the family of Playstation gaming devices. PS Vita has the same Â“super-ovalÂ” shape as that of the original Playstation Portable. It has two analog sticks, a 5 inch OLED multi touch touchscreen capacity, a D-pad, two shoulder buttons, Playstation button, and Start and Select buttons. It supports WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G as an optional feature.

Playstation Vita does not have a removable battery or feature a video output like the PSP. Sony announced at the TGS 2011 that the VitaÂ’s battery can last up to 5 hours of gameplay, 9 hours of music listening, and 5 hours of video. However, PS Vita has an external battery option and another storage media slot for added memory capacity. The memory capacities range from 4GB to 32GB.

This next-generation handheld device will be released in two different versions; one with 3G support and the other one without 3G support. The PS Vita release date in Japan and other parts of Asia is going to be on December 17, 2011. Europe, North America and the rest of the world will have to wait until March 31, 2012.
