Boracay Insider Website Reports Cebu Pacific to Add New Routes to Increase Number of Passengers to Boracay

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 25, 2012 ) Manila, Philippines –– The country’s leading budget carrier, Cebu Pacific, expects a spike in the number of their passengers this year as it will add more routes including flights serving travelers headed for Boracay, one of the country’s tourist hotspots.

Cebu Pacific renews its resolve to hit its annual targets by increasing the number of routes served in the Philippines. Representatives from the airline reported that they almost reached last yearÂ’s goal of serving 12 million passengers, missing the mark by a very small margin. Last yearÂ’s totals showed that Cebu Pacific served 11.94 million passengers.

The move to increase the number of routes served plus adding flights headed to Kalibo, Aklan will boost the number of passengers that the airline serves and will also help the countryÂ’s tourism drive. Kalibo, Aklan is the gateway to the island of Boracay, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country mainly due to its famous White Beach.

By increasing the number of flights and routes, Cebu Pacific expects to hit 14 million passengers served for the entire year of 2012, which is approximately 17% higher than the number of passengers served last year. The goal looks realistic and achievable given the plans laid out by the carrier for this coming year.

The plan is to boost both trade and tourism in the areas being served by airlineÂ’s routes. Cebu Pacific also promises better and more innovative services for all their guests. The effect of the said move is seen as mutually benefiting the countryÂ’s economy and the airlineÂ’s business as well.

Cebu Pacific is due to launch international flights to Boracay, specifically a Hong Kong to Kalibo, Aklan route. Airline officials state that the route will be made available around the third week of March 2012. Other new international flights include Manila to Hanoi, Vietnam and Manila to Xiamen.

Last year, the airline added five new Airbus A320 planes, which gave them a 13% increase in seat capacity. This allowed the airline to gain significant passenger growth and it specifically getting more seats filled for each of their flights scheduled the previous year.

Even though the airline wasnÂ’t able to hit its targeted annual number of passengers served last year, the reports show that the company performed pretty well. The results for last year were no less than impressive.

The airline reports steady growth with regard to its domestic operations. Airline officials report a 12 percent increase in the number of passengers boarding domestic flights. Domestic operations reported a total of 9.22 million passengers served. International operations performed just as well serving a total of 2.72 million passengers, which basically represents a 22 percent increase year on year.

With the new routes serving passengers headed for Boracay, the airline expects to help the local economy and make flights more convenient for their passengers. The island paradise of Boracay reels in thousands of local and international tourists each year.
